Matt Kidney
Although Matt is well known for his tact and ability when dealing with young or difficult horses, he also aims to produce event horses for competition and sale. His focus when working with the horses and riders in his program is developing correct basics on the flat and confidence over fences. Matt believes that this helps ensure success as both horses and students move up the levels.
Matt currently has one top horse he is actively competing: Fuzion (“Max”) is a 2010 gelding who began his eventing career with Matt in 2014. To date they have had many top ten finishes at Preliminary and above, including a top 20 finish at Bromont CCI2*L, and a top 10 finish at both Virginia CCI3*S and their first advanced at Will O’ Wind. Mecari-E (“Mickey”) is a 2017 KWPN gelding imported in the fall of 2022 by the Stonecrest Syndicate. He had a successful season at Preliminary in 2023, including multiple top 10 finishes.
In addition to training and competing his own horses, Matt also accepts horses on training board, is available for coaching in the Ottawa area, offers quality horses for sale and also competes horses on a “catch-ride” basis.
Leah Kidney
Leah has successfully competed through the Preliminary level on her few past partners. Currently she is competing her own Fuego’s Fabulous (“Eggo”) a 2016 imported AES gelding at the Prelim Level. A passionate coach, she is well liked by her students for her ability to grow their confidence while keeping things fun.
Leah is available for training rides and lessons, and is organizer extraordinaire – scheduling lessons, preparing horse show entries for students, etc.
